The US is really several countries weather-wise. May–June and September–October are the widest sweet spot — comfortable across the north-east, still warm enough for southern California, sensible in the deserts. AT&T has slightly deeper coverage in the deep South and rural Midwest; T-Mobile is often faster in urban 5G. Reception drops in canyons — Grand Canyon rims, Zion, and parts of Yosemite have coverage; the trails do not.
Installing your United States eSIM

Yes across the continental 48. Hawaii and Alaska are covered on both AT&T and T-Mobile with strong 4G/5G in Honolulu, Anchorage, and along the main tourist zones. Remote Alaska interior and outer Hawaiian islands may have thinner coverage.
Does it work on domestic flights and Amtrak?
Flights: cellular is off during flight regardless of eSIM (use in-flight Wi-Fi). Amtrak: reception is strong along the Northeast Corridor (Boston–DC), variable through the Rockies and California Zephyr, and non-existent through some tunnel sections.
How much data for a US trip?
It scales heavily with how much you're driving. A city-only week is 3–5 GB; a road-trip week with continuous Google Maps navigation, Spotify, and podcasts is 10–20 GB. Size up if you'll be tethering a laptop for work from Airbnbs.
What about international calls back home?
Data-only, so use WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Google Voice for calls. If you need to receive SMS codes from a US bank or ride app, use the app-based verification method instead of SMS wherever possible.
Will the eSIM work in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands?
Puerto Rico is on the same US networks and generally works on US plans. The USVI has its own operator and roaming rules — check the plan description before you count on it. For a longer Caribbean trip, consider a regional or global plan.
